Dr Louise Connor
I am a Chartered Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a specialist interest in working with young adults upwards from 18 years of age, and adults with a range of neuro-developmental difficulties and associated emotional difficulties. I specifically work with people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASCs) and the associated difficulties which these conditions can bring about. Since completing Clinical Psychology training at the Institute of Psychiatry, in 1994, I specialised in working with children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental condition and specifically ASCs. as well as providing a clinical psychology intervention service for children and adolescents.
I completed my Doctorate in 1997, focussing on diagnostic issues relevant to adolescents with a range of developmental disorders. I worked as a member of a multidisciplinary assessment and diagnostic team as well as managing a team of Clinical Psychologists providing intervention services to children and adolescents with special needs and their families, for ten years. My work extended, to working with adolescents and adults with neurodevelopmental differences and their families, specifically those with High Functioning ASCs.

Having worked in the National Health Service until 2005, I have since worked in a specialist school for children and adolescents with ASCs and worked for a private multidisciplinary organisation prior to establishing my own independent practice in 2009.

I have carried out training in the use of a number of diagnostic assessment tools and have been conducting diagnostic assessments for thirty years. In addition, I have been trained in the use of a number of intervention techniques, although primarily use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Brief Solution Focussed Therapy (BSFT).
I receive regular supervision and ensure regular Professional Development, in accordance with the British Psychological Society and Health and Care Professionals Council requirements.

Experience and Specialist Expertise
Since beginning my career in the clinical field at age 17, initially supporting adults with learning disabilities, I have devoted myself to deepening my understanding of underlying patterns of thought and how best to address diverse needs. My professional journey has included extensive learning and training in areas such as family therapy, art therapy, music therapy, trauma therapy, and a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities. I am committed to ongoing development, regularly attending conferences to remain up-to-date with scientific advancements in the field.
